What We Believe

Our faith is the foundation of everything we do. Here you can learn about the core beliefs that guide our worship, our community, and our mission to share God's love.

Our Core Beliefs

The Scriptures

We believe the Bible is the inspired & infallible Word of God. The Scriptures are our trusted guide for faith, life, and training in righteousness. (2 Timothy 3:16) On Sunday mornings and evenings we preach expository sermons through books of the Bible. (2 Timothy 4:2) Our desire is to understand and obey the full council of God's Word.
(Acts 20:27)

God & Salvation

We believe in one God who has always existed as one divine essence in three persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (John 17) Jesus is the eternal Word of God made flesh. (John 1:14) Salvation is a gift of grace through faith in Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 2) Salvation is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer. (1 Peter 2:24) We preach Christ's death, burial, and resurrection. (1 Cor 15:1-3) There is no salvation apart from personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord. (Acts 4:12)

The Church

We believe the church is the body and bride of Christ. The church is not a building, it is a family of believers who are called to worship together, live on mission, serve one another, and love our neighbors. Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church.  (Colossians 1:18) We believe that Christ will one day return for his bride and to deal with evil once and for all. (Hebrews 9:28, 1 John 3:8) We are governed by the commands of God given in the Scriptures and are congregationally led. (Isaiah 40:8, Hebrews 4:12)

Worship

Worship is due to God alone. (Isaiah 42:8, Luke 4:8) Jesus calls us to worship in "Spirit & Truth". Here at FSBC you will enjoy a blend of traditional and contemperary music that glorifies and exalts God, who is the the author of truth.

Missions

The mission of the Church is to be disciples who make disciples. Jesus laid out this mission in Matthew 28. We are called to go, baptize, and teach all that He has commanded. We support missions here, near, and far. We are associated with East Central Baptist Assocation, Oklahoma Baptists, and The Southern Baptist Convention.

Baptism & The Lord's Supper

We believe that the pattern of baptism in the NT is water immersion of a believer in the name of the Father, Son & Spirit. This act symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Likewise, the Lord's Supper is a symbolic act that memorializes the death of Christ and anticipates His return. (Matthew 28:19, 1 Cor 11:23-26)

Mankind, The Fall, & The Sanctity of Life

Man is the special creation of God, made in His own image. God created them male and female. The gift of gender is thus part of the goodness of God’s creation.  By his free choice man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. Through the temptation of Satan man transgressed the command of God, and fell from his original innocence whereby his posterity inherit a nature and an environment inclined toward sin. Only the grace of God can bring man into His holy fellowship and enable man to fulfill the creative purpose of God. All human life is sacred. Christ died for all men; therefore, every person of every race possesses full dignity and is worthy of respect and love. (Summary of the BF&M)
